Industrial Ruins
It’s Father’s Day today. I got my Dad a selection of local Ciders. My sister and Albie left this morning. Poor Albs didn’t want to go! He loves being here, going on lots of adventures, getting lots of treats and having lots of room to run around in! I think Buster was sad to see him go too. They both had a nice walk together this morning.
After lunch, we went to my Grandad’s grave. We put flowers there for Father’s Day. We’d picked all of the flowers from our garden. I wish I’d have taken a picture of them.
We then headed for the Heritage Park. It’s got a rich history of coal mining and there’s the old Ironworks too. We ventured up into the valley and passed all of the building ruins from the Ironworks. We came across the remains of the Colliery which was in use back in the 1860’s. I think that’s what was the Replacement Winding-Engine Building House in my blip.
There was an information board telling you all about it, but Buster wasn’t interested haha. After walking along narrow tracks trying to avoid the Brambles and other vegetation trying to take over the path, we made our way down to the main path. I think it was the old tramway from the Ironworks to the sea. We headed back to the car and drove along the scenic route home.
I decided I wanted to go to the garden centre. I only had 50 minutes to get there before they closed. It took me 25 minutes due to roadworks and slow drivers. It should have taken 15! Anyways, I wanted to get telescopic loppers, but they were £55!! I’m not paying that. I got a new hand fork and some bamboo gloves and went home again.
We had supper and then Mum and I took Buster for an evening walk around the loop.
Luckily the original forecast for today was wrong and it was actually dry all day. Originally, it had said we’d get heavy rain all day.
Check out my extra blips to see the coal line in the cliff.
