Teamwork

2 hands good; four hands better.

Scene management today, so we ran through being on your own, making tough calls and getting strangers involved.
20 minutes of cpr bought us enough time to get a defib into place, group members working well to carry the casualty to an evac point.

Some groups make my job a joy. Lots and lots of laughter, one of the best ways to learn.

Two down sides to the day:
(1) Removing a tick from my calf when I got home (we saw them on things all day). Approximately 1mm diameter, still utterly vile. I don't (ttbomk) usually get them, so they're obviously getting bolder and more evil.
(2) The neighbours main stopcock failed the day before they were due to go off on holiday. Not a great time to discover you don't know where to turn off the water from outside the house. Eventually (a great team effort) the boys found and excavated the external main, and shut it off, whilst the girls bailed and emptied the water flooding the bathroom and spare room. Hopefully not too much damage. Incredibly United Utilities said the wouldn't attend unless a registered plumber was also present. They've clearly no grasp of the realities of rural life.
