Healing Hospitality

Decided to treat Ermelinda and Cecílio to a meal out today; both they and we have done a lot of entertaining lately and Ermelinda has finished a stressful work fortnight. Went to Corte Velha, in Amareleja, a town about twenty minutes south of us, and so glad we did.

We'd had a fairly unpleasant morning and it felt healing to be in a cozy place, treated so well by our waiter (who might have been the owner), and the food was superb, as was the local wine. No menu. Each course was explained by the waiter and recommendations made, not sure if that's because of Covid or always like that... I love the way Portuguese waiters tell you not to have something because it'll be too much food.

Gratefuls:
- finding a good, new place, really hope we can go back and eat the dishes we hadn't room for today
- E & C's friendship and good company, ended the day watching a film at theirs
- yet another cool and rainy day, such a blessing
