Travelling bath
This much travelled zinc bath is more than 100 years old. I’m told it started its life in Chittlehampton, in Devon. It has served as a dog bath, and it now resides in Scotland as a planter.
I don’t have this actual bath, but we did have one like it when I was a kid. On bath night my mum put it on the floor in front of the fire, on which we heated the water. Towels hanging on a wooden clothes horse blocked the draught and provided a measure of privacy. How distant that all seems now.
