Wedding Rose

There was no point getting up at 0330 for the Solstice this morning, too dull. Has been damp, grey and really cold all day. Not much of a midsummer. The garden at least is perking up. I noticed today this old rose in flower. It is a wedding rose my office gave us when we got married. I’m sure originally it used to flower in May, but seems to flower later these days. It’s survived being pot bound and several house moves and quite a lot of neglect. I always feel it would be an ill omen if it were to die!
