With love to Sandra...
On this cold and wet midsummers day, Sandra’s funeral was a breath of fresh air and sunshine. She’d asked us to wear something colourful and Christine our flower boff/artist made sure the floral tributes also followed her wishes. Just the permitted number at the service but there will have been others watching online. It was a privilege to be there in person.
Sandra’s family compiled a wonderful photo montage set to very happy music and we could only smile as we watched. Great memories! Our minister Ian spoke so well of Sandra’s many gifts and reminded us of her wish always to help. She’d served on our diaconate and was one of the chief cooks for Community Lunch.
Time to share afterwards at an informal reception and to see those wonderful photos again. Sandra’s husband had died very suddenly from a heart attack twelve years ago. Today we celebrated her strength in building her life after that shock and through her years of cancer. We will really miss her. My extra is the well known poem that was read today, chosen by Sandra.
