Carrières de Lumières (Quarries of Light)

We wanted to hire bikes today and found an excellent bike rental in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, but as the bikes just came in after the weekend, they want to give them a service. So we booked the bikes for tomorrow and visited Les Baux-de-Provence in the Alpilles mountains (see extra). It’s a famous small village, with a ruined castle and the “Quarries of Light”. Images projected on stone walls of the former quarry. Not just images, but moving images accompanied by sound. Right now there are two exhibitions showing work from the painters Cézanne and Kandinsky. It was a great experience to be in the middle of these moving pictures in such a big setting.

Again, glad to be here before the holiday season starts. Just read on Wikipedia, that the small village is visited by over by the amazing number of 1.5 million people per year.
