Flowers and duns

The wind direction has changed and brought cold and wet weather with it, but we enjoyed another varied walk over the hills, sand dunes and beaches. We saw Dun Bharpa, a chambered cairn from the Neolithic period, then walked a short way along the Hebrides long-distance footpath. The machair behind the dunes was a mass of yellow and whites (daisies, clover, buttercups, birds-foot trefoil) but lacked the pink and purples of yesterday's mass of orchids, lousewort and milkworts.
