Close encounter

Such a beautiful sight as I walked along a stretch of the Louth Canal. It was the first summery warm evening for some time and a pleasure to be out and about especially when there is a barn owl to see. My extra shows him flying away to find food . I know he has owlets as a friend of mine has his owl box on his land.
It is the first time this year that I have seen hundreds of midges along the canal. Great for the swallows.
