Byland Abbey

Well as we are at caravan and our area is quiet, we are infact the only ones here, it means I can spend plenty of time wandering about.
Darren had a lazy morning, but after lunch we travelled north of York in to an area between Easingwold and Helmsley. It’s a fabulous area, not the most well known of Yorkshire’s beauty spots but it’s certainly well worth a visit. We first visited the village of Husthwaite and had a nice walk. We could have put a photo up from here as Darren took a few, we then called in to an honesty cafe, which was absolutely lovely, by far the best honesty cafe we’ve visited.
After that we were going to stop off at the village of Coxwold but we drove through it and carried on to Byland abbey. This is an English heritage property but at the moment is free to enter, even after hours, it was after 5 when we went in. We were the only ones there for about 50 minutes, Darren thought it was great to have it all to ourselves.
We left Byland about 7.15 as Darren wanted to watch the football, after the match he wished he hadn’t bothered, he’s not very impressed with England or how they play. Apart from the football, this afternoon and early evening was very enjoyable.
