Summer starts...

A field full of poppies, spotted from the car, just had to go see. The day after a grey, dull summer solstice, these are another sign of summer starting.
What seems from afar like a dense carpet of flowers turned out to be rather more spread out when I got into the field, but still wonderful to be almost waist deep among the poppies and crop they've emerged amongst.
And thankfully, poppy pollen doesn't seem to set off my hay fever!
