Red Campion. ( Silene dioica )

Another of the wild flowers which we allow in the garden.  It is being a native good for insects particularly pollinators, it also provides a nice splash of colour.

Like many native plants it has its share of mythology!   In this case guarding bees' honey stores and helping fairies remain undiscovered.  The plant thrives in woodlands and particularly like ancient woodlands.
