These Boots Are No Longer Made For Walking

Today's image is of my brother's old work boots - as you can see they have taken a fairly severe pounding over the years. They are very scuffed,  the soles have split and they now let in water but he is still reluctant to throw them out as they had put in such long and faithful service. They almost have a character of their own.
He did try to take them to a shoe repairers but the man behind the counter just shook his head and said the cost of repair would be more than a new pair!
