The Finnish Parliament House

This week's last meeting for me was in the Parliament House. I was excited and almost nervous about the meeting but it went well. I met a Member of Parliament. He will be a visiting "teacher" in our union's seminar in one month. We are trying to find new ways to do union work and I hope our guest will help us in that work. Will see...

And then some words about the Parliament House. The building is mainly desinged by Johan Sigfrid Siren. The building was constructed in 1926-1931 and was officially inaugurated on 7 March 1931.

The style is classic style of 1920. The exterior is reddish Kalvola granite and the facade is lined by fourteen columns with Corinthian capitals as you can see in the picture. If you are interested you can find more information by visiting www.eduskunta.fi

(I must say that the building is much more beautiful inside than outside.)
