The Physic Garden
Is in Castle Park (named for the long gone Norman castle built shortly after the conquest). It is maintained by support workers and service-users of St Mungo’s - they work with homeless people, and people with mental health problems and/or addictions. It is such a beautiful garden, I imagine it would be therapeutic to work in it. It’s in the old part of the city - you can see a bit of the wall of St. Peter’s church. It’s an empty shell, having been bombed in the blitz in 1940, but all the walls, and the tower, are still there. You can also see St Mary Redcliffe - the tall spire in the centre. And St Nicholas spire just peeking out behind the trees. There’s quite a few benches in the garden, and many people sit there peacefully, taking in the loveliness
