Mommas taking us to the zoo tomorrow .....
In the late sixties my parents bought a record player and one LP with songs for children , Junior Hits. Does anyone remember it ?
We learnt the songs off by heart and I sang them to my children and now to the next generation.
Arthur and I sang it together this morning as his Momma drove us to Blackpool Zoo for a day trip.
Of course there had to be a picnic at some point in the proceedings.
Arthur was a very busy bee so we didn't have time to eat much. Later on he had a cheese and cracker snack on the go and was munching happily when all of a sudden a very determined Herring Gull swooped down and stole it from him. It gave us all a shock and Arthur cried but Jess handled it all so calmly that he soon recovered and seemed quite relaxed about it when other gulls came near . His great auntie , who will read this, will be pleased to hear that he has not been traumatised as she has only recently got over a fear of birds, terns in particular .
The visit was all Arthur centred of course but he fell asleep on the way home and so we were able to have a long , satisfying conversation about all the things that interest us both.
We were so engrossed that when we reached the motorway we headed north instead of south and had gone a fair way before we noticed . By then traffic had built up on the south side so we
Doubled the journey length , it gave us some bonus chatting time and Arthur slept the entire way home . I feel much more energised after our jaunt , it was good to get out and about .
