Martindale
Thank you to each of you who left good wishes for my birthday yesterday. They were very much appreciated.
We left the cottage in Crosthwaite this morning and headed over to the Inn on the Lake at Glenridding for two nights.
The roads were busy as was Pooley Bridge which we passed through on our way to park by the Martindale Church so we could trot up Hallin Fell to bag another Wainwright. We were fortunate to find a spot to park even that far up the valley.
This was the view from our lunch stop of Martindale Common with The Nab prominent in the distance separating Bannerdale (right) from Ramps Gill (left)
From there we did a circuit which took in Steel Knotts, another Wainwright, down into Martindale and on to Boredale before returning to the car. Overcast and dry with quite good visibility today.
This is a very fine part of the District and will repay further investigation in future visits.
Enjoying the delights of the hotel tonight and tomorrow. Planning an assault on Blencathra tomorrow to round off the holiday.
