Merchant City Lunch

Today I joined a group of cheerful women for lunch who met together a couple of years ago or so, at a class at the Centre for Lifelong Learning (mentioned yesterday). Now a lunch get-together is a regular occurrence and Cafe Qua in Glasgow Merchant City is the preferred venue.

A two-course lunch for £5.95 is great value - the service is fast and the Italian cuisine is freshly cooked and delicious. You can see how packed it is. You will probably recognise the mural as the famous Rialto Bridge over the Canal in Venice. Italian restaurants proliferate in Glasgow but this is one of the best. One of our attentive waiters was happy to get in on the act! I ordered Minestrone all'Italiana and Penne alle Cozze (Penne pasta with Scottish west coast mussels, fresh tomato, mixed Italian herbs, garlic and a touch of chilli). Bellisimo!

This afternoon the sun broke through and there were beautiful fluffy clouds. I took some shots on my journey home by train and at the changeover at Hyndland station where the new bridge offers a good viewpoint. I have uploaded three at the beginning of my Blipfolio Built Environment.
