The end of an era

My hometown is all over the Scottish news today following the shutdown of Cockenzie Power Station after 45 years in operation. I nearly remember when the lums went up but I do remember the noise when the station released excess energy and the soot/dust and water lying on the washing or sticky to the car.

The lums have ruined many a good sunset photo but at least they were a landmark and great for giving driving directions to my house!

We will need to see what happens next with the station but no doubt it will lie empty for a long time until decisions are made.
