Smallest Post Office
Empire Vale Post Office has been declared the smallest post office in Australia. It's 10 km south of Ballina. To get there today we took the car ferry across the Richmond River from Ballina (extra). There wasn't much traffic.
In 1995 Australia Post declared that the smallest post office in the nation was Rock Valley, about 50 km west of here. It burned down in 2012 (suspicious?). It was re-built, but with a verandah. So it's no longer the smallest. Empire Vale PO manages to be smallest, while also having a verandah. Well done guys!
