Doing the Garden!
The plants needed a bit of attention.
I gave them some organic feed and added some chopped up banana skins to the tomatoes for extra potassium. The compost in the lettuce and sprouting broccoli had gone really low and needed topping up so I dug up some grass round the mooring and got to the soil below and put that around. Also I had some spring onion seedlings in 3 small pots on the back deck so I carefully took them out, used the conpost from the pots for the lettuces and then planted the baby onions in with them. I had a wood fibre kitchen sponge that was looking a bit manky so I chopped that into bits and put them round about too. All natural and the garden is looking happy. The tomatoes are looking good.
I love the pink petunias and I bought the lavender the other day from Asda.

I also 'despidered 'the boat - all happily relocated to the outdoors. You know when it's time to move them on when they start descending on a silk trapeze right in front of your eyes! Haha!
We haven't moved on as we have time to spare having set off a bit too early from Skipton. It's hard to guage how long a journey will take on a narrowboat. There are formulas you can use like mileage x No of locks and bridges and how long each one potentially takes but we'd rather just take our chances. It's nice and quiet here, surprisingly. All we can hear is bird song even though there is industry nearby which we can't actually see.
It's given us a chance to do things like drawing, knitting, music and reading.
We'll be moving on tomorrow and heading for the Tinsley flight - a series of 11 locks taking us up to the summit and the outskirts of Sheffield. We'll do that on Wednesday as you have to book it 24 hours in advance so the lock keepers will be available. It's not a busy waterway so the locks won't be manned all the time. In fact since we've been here for the last 3 days we've only seen 3 boats passing.
Nothing on telly tonight so we're reading our books.
Goodnight :-)X
