Ripon Spa Baths, grade II listed, built between 1904–05 as a spa but failed to compete with the swankier facilities at Harrogate. In 1936 it was converted to swimming baths. Although much of the structure was "relatively utilitarian" the frontage is described by Historic England as "exceptionally elaborate". The council paid extra to have pomegranates engraved on the mahogany entrance doors and to install a statue of a river god in the main pump room. Those were the days! Harrogate Borough Council has tried to sell it, often. And it’s up for sale now so if you fancy your own exceptionally elaborate spa, and swimming baths, with pomegranates ….. but not quite as swanky as Harrogate …. put in a bid.
