A walk to New Quay....and back!
The sleep we had yesterday afternoon didn't spoil a very good night's sleep. Turning lights off at 11 we didn't wake until 8.30am. We are taking this holiday very slowly. There are no rules, very few plans other than to relax. That said, after breakfast and coffee alongside The Archers omnibus, we gathered a packed lunch, and other bits, and put on our walking boots. Then headed from our campsite to New Quay - 3 miles by road. We followed the road a bit, then down a footpath which took us all the way down to the harbour. The views of the sea and Quay on our way were stunning. It is always exciting when you first 'see the sea' which we did after only 1 mile.
It was a warm day, but by the sea was breezy. Once into the town, where it was very busy with people, we bought a takeaway cup of tea and found a bench and sat overlooking the beach to eat the lunch I had prepared. It was lovely just watching all the children in the sea. If we get more sunny days them I will have to go in. Not easy to walk down with a beach days worth of stuff, but we could drive.
The walk back was challenging, but we began with an ice cream and then found a geocache, by a pub said to be favoured by Dylan Thomas, and somewhere he wrote lots of poems and Under Milk Wood. We will look for more geocaches in the week.
The climb back was all uphill. I struggled a bit and had to stop to put eyedrops in my hayfever eyes, but we got back at about 4, then lazed about after a cup of tea, reading our books. I rang mum and had a catch up.
Dinner was egg and bacon. We haven't been shopping yet, so not much else in until tomorrow. It did the job. Washing up can wait until tomorrow.
I think I will sleep well again tonight.
