Ben Venue

A glorious day on the hill with V.  We left the Southside just after 7 and began our ascent of Ben Venue around 8.30 with just one other car in the car park. We took it really slowly and spent almost an hour having lunch on the summit which we had to ourselves. So clear we could see Arran on the horizon, Ben Lomond in front of us and the Arrocher Alps to the north west.
It seemed a long way down in the afternoon heat. Coffee and cake (chocolate orange crunch) in Aberfoyle revived us.
This was the first time either of us had car shared in goodness how long. In England it’s permissible under Rambers guidance, it’s not, yet, in Scotland. We discerned the risk was minimal and rather lower than the risk of being on the road in the first place. And this was not an official Ramblers Scotland walk anyway.
Ate tea in pyjamas and hoping to get an early night in preparation for another hike tomorrow with P, a bit less strenuous.
