The Corrieyairack Pass
The Corrieyairack pass runs from Fort Augustus east towards Laggan and Newtonmore. General Wade built a road across the pass to move troops in an effort to control the Highlands after the Jacobite Revolution. Much of the road (and bridges) still exists and we used it today to climb two hills on the north side of the pass - Gairbeinn and Corrieyairack Hill. The weather was hot, skies blue and much factor 50 was needed. We met only one lad the whole day ( pushing a bike ) and this felt quite remote country. The views were great - especially looking west to the Great Glen and the west coast (blip).
