Big Wainwright Day
Gorgeous day with clear tops. We set off walking from Wasdale head up Lingmell Fell, steep and fairly high, with glorious views from the summit - the blip is taken from here. From there a simple crossover and up to Scafell Pike - satisfying route to the top and great panoramic views - England’s highest peak. We looked at the route to Scafell and decided it wasn’t for mere mortals like ourselves choosing instead to follow the ridge route to Great End - described as 1 and a third miles (each way) of rough terrain - a giant jagged edged boulder field would be a more accurate description - one Wainwright too many for me - glad to be back - eventually - 9 and a half hours on the hill - Feeling so tired tonight - but what a privilege to spend a glorious day in a truly beautiful part of the world
Definitely a quiet day tomorrow!
