Waterloo Monument

It is near New Abbey in Dumfries and Galloway.
This tower is dedicated to the Duke of Wellington and the British, Belgian and Prussian armies overcoming French Tyranny at the Battle of Waterloo just over 206 years ago in June 1815.

It would be an interesting counterfactual argument to consider what would have happened if Napoleon had won and overcome the tyranny of the British Empire.

It is always interesting to see how history is written and perceived in the context of its time. Then, to see how it looks centuries later when new facts emerge to give a more accurate account of events. Are you listening Boris?

At the moment we are basking in the glory of overcoming over 50 years of German football tyranny over us ! We should have a monument !
