Apero dinatoire

Ready for friends, G and V with G's visiting daughter P and her partner A.  A rather carb-heavy spread featuring focaccia, rustic tomato tart, and even a couple of pizzas from the pizza van. S offset this with his signature apple, avocado, and walnut salad, and V brought some home-made hummus and aubergine caviar. I thought we might need dessert, so I took advantage of my baking mania to make some Maids of Honour. With no choir practice for close to two years I am missing the opportunities to bake cakes.

We'd hoped to sit outside but it was a little too cool and windy, so it was indoors with the windows wide open. It was good to have a normal evening's socialising, though I'm beginning to wonder if the French tradition of bises/air-kissing on meeting will ever return. We're all vaccinated, so we could have done it, but it's just not a reflex any more.
