WINTER WHEAT

Winter wheat (Triticum aestivum), as its name implies, is sown in the fall of the year and then it overwinters in the ground and matures early in the Spring growing season. It makes an excellent ground cover to prevent Springtime erosion due to high winds.

This wheat is just about ripe and will be harvested within the next few weeks. The Extra shows much of the field now turning a golden yellow

Best in Large....and wouldn't this make for a tough jigsaw puzzel?
