Poppies
Some years we get a great show of oriental opium poppies and other kinds too. Then they disappear for a few years. This year we have masses and they have chosen to seed themselves in the rose garden. (The roses are just coming into bud).
We got the van cleared out but I wasn’t able to do the flower bed weeding - a few days ago I twisted while I was bending in the shower in the van and I felt it in my lower back. What with sitting in the van for a couple of days it seems to have got worse. I tried the back exercises I had from a previous time but that made it worse. Luckily splendid Stephen the physio can see me on Friday so hopefully he’ll get me sorted for the busy weekend with the boys.
Therefore a change of plan. While Mr C sorted out the veg garden, I started on our Grand Tour of England book. The Hebrides one arrived when we were away and it is gorgeous. The reproductive quality is good so it does it justice.
Last night we watched the Rankin photography programme. What imaginative pictures were made. Tonight it will be the Ken Burns programme about Hemingway. I’m not a fan of the writer but I have enjoyed the previous Ken Burns stuff like Vietnam.
