Daisy patch
In a day of much running about, we opted for the road less travelled to avoid that extreme rarity, Highland Council road repairs and the chaos resulting therefrom. Coming to a corner we saw this swathe of daisies and Mrs Oons said, there's a blip in that.
Remember there was a scheme called set aside, where farmers were paid to keep some land unused to prevent overproduction? That is long gone, replaced by some other subsidy scheme. But this does look, well, set to one side doesn't it?
At the roadside, and in the extra, there is purple vetch. Buttercup in the foreground, bird's foot trefoil in the background. Long ago when I played cricket in Kent, our ground was covered in bird's foot trefoil, which tinges red when it matures. So there it is commonly known as bacon and eggs. Something else you didn't need to know.
