Black headed gull
A diversion today as I had planned for us to start the Solent Way, the section from Milford on Sea back to Lymington. The walk starts by walking the shingle path up to Hurst Castle. I had booked tickets via our English Heritage membership although a lot of it is shut for renovation. Anyway, we had a look around Henry 8th’s many castles and then retraced our steps along the shingle. On this section we saw 2 herons and 2 egrets. We then turned right and walked across the nature reserve all the way back to Lymington. What a fantastic variety of sea birds we saw, common sandwich and little terns, avocets, shell ducks, lapwings, curlews, oystercatchers and lots of black headed gulls although in reality they are brown. A total of 12.5 miles walked today and then I cleaned our son’s driveway and double garage, leaves, dust, spiders, it looks a lot better now.
Now watching the final set of Andy Murray at Wimbledon!
