Garlic Scape

I must have planted some garlic last year although I thought it was the year before. Anyway, there are 3 bulbs growing and I was fascinated to see this elegant flower developing. Apparently, the garlic will develop better if you cut the ‘scape’ and flower off but it seems a shame.
