What a difference a day makes
Three days ago a storm was making itself felt over New Zealand. Skies were black, temperatures were bleak and state highways (and back roads) were closed because of snow inland and dangerous waves on coastal routes. I was concerned about whether I'd be able to travel north this week.
Today this is the scene at St James Tarn. Straight from the phone, untouched. Quite a change.
The white dots on the water are lumps of snow that people have thrown onto the frozen lake. The ice is good and solid at the edge, but I wasnt braving it to test further out!
The only issue I had on the trip was a bit of ice on the road and . . . it was very slippery under foot when I got out to let Azzy stretch her legs. So slippery in fact that I stepped back from the van and slid over. Did a lovely backwards roll over a knee high rock and landed on my back in wet moss and mud! It was probably hilarious to watch!
I suspect I'll have some serious bruising tomorrow.
