Spiggie Beach

First of all, more apologies - this time for having to back-blip. I did prepare my entry last night, but due to my usual dithering, ended up running out of time as we were off for a storm petrel viewing expedition last night. This will, no doubt, feature in today’s official blip posted later on!

So, the journey continues …..

We are now in Shetland, having sailed overnight from Orkney. Yesterday was pretty tiring - out of our B&B at 9.00 am, then not having a chance to get our heads down until getting on the ship at 11.30.

Having docked at 7.00am, we eat an all fresco breakfast in a stunningly sunny Lerwick before heading off to explore this new destination.

Today we focus on the south, calling in beautiful beaches and tiny harbours; climbing to see views and relics of old radar stations amid the sheep-grazing at the top of Noss Hill, and looking for seabirds at Sumburgh Head.

First impressions? Shetland is stunningly beautiful!

Today’s blip is of the breathtakingly clear water at Spiggie.
