Glenroy River Bridge

About 35 km up the Matakitaki Valley is the Glenroy River Bridge, and this afternoon we took a trip up there. A couple of weeks ago we went over this bridge when we were travelling home from Hanmer Springs via the Mauria Saddle. At the time, we stopped and walked over the bridge. We were surprised at the number of Trout that we could see swimming in the river, so today we decided to take a quick trip up the valley, as the boys wanted to have a fish to see if they could catch one of these Trout.

It is amazing how much the water level in the river has gone down in the past couple of weeks. And with the water, the fish seemed to have disappeared as not one was interested in being caught today. The only things biting were the sandflies, and they were certainly out in force!
