Another beautiful summer's day here in South West Scotland. In the middle of winter I shall remember these bright days when it is possible to walk around at half past ten at night as though it was daytime.

I'm going to try upping my daily walking distances this month, so was out early(ish) this morning while it was still relatively cool. The barley is ripening nicely, and I liked seeing some wildflowers at the field margins but more would be better.

The flycatchers have left their nest. Their mother was on a fence nearby but I could see and hear no sign of the babies. I hope they will be ok.

Time to do some (gentle) gardening, I think.
