Tewkesbury

We took a drive out to Tewkesbury today arriving at morning coffee time partaken at the very pleasant Riverside Cafe on their terrace overlooking the river (that's why it's called Riverside!).  I took a few pics whilst there including this one, apparently  they do river trips from the town centre, something for another day.

After coffee we took a walk down the High Street.  The town is bedecked with medieval banners.  Each flag holds the coat of arms of a participant in the Battle of Tewkesbury 1471, the last major battle of the War of the Roses.  Twekesbury has some very interesting old buildings.

Later, after a picnic lunch, we went over to the Tewkesbury Nature Reserve and had a lovely walk on paths winding through wildflower meadows and tall grasses.  It was very quiet, hardly anyone there, and butterflies and dragonflies flying around.  The path follows a stream though this is not always visible due to the undergrowth.   Certainly a place I'd like to go back to.
