Puffling
One of the delights at this time of year is seeing the next generation of birds appear.
During June in Oxford we watched juvenile blackbirds, starlings, sparrows, robins, blue tits, goldfinches and robins appear, and over the last couple of days I've seen juvenile blackbirds, sparrows and starlings in the northern garden and kittiwakes, guillemots (jumplings) and now puffins (pufflings) and razorbills (see the extra) on the cliffs around Sumburgh Head.
Last year my first Sumburgh puffling was on 13th July - so they appear to be ahead of the game this year. Hopefully this puffling and it's class mates will be a little bit more visible over the next few days.
