These are the first two lines of a song made popular in 1959 by Dinah Washington in which she also won a Grammy Award. I’ve anointed it today’s theme song for two reasons • The first is this “Black Knight” hollyhock! This bud just started to open yesterday so of course I took a photo, but look what it has turned into today! It’s our first flower from the plant we purchased this spring, and there’s many more buds to look forward to. Eventually the plant will self-seed • Secondly, the weather! Although we did not receive one speck of rain from the many storms passing through the state yesterday, it is noticeably more comfortable this afternoon. The air is dry, the sun no longer feels oppressive, and the drips have vanished • Oh, happy day, what a difference a day makes :)
