Flower Friday: Poppy

We have some gorgeous self-seeded poppies popping up in the veggie patch at the moment. Naturally it decided to rain for a while this afternoon because I'd started to mow the lawn...but the raindrops do look rather lovely on the petals.

The poppies are not supposed to be there of course but they're so lovely we don't want to remove them. And anyway we're having a bit of a veggie-growing disaster this year - only 2 bean seeds germinated out of 24 and one of them has died (they were new seeds this year) and while we were away something nibbled right across the stem of the only courgette plant we had growing. We are however having more luck with the tenderstem broccoli which all looks healthy...for now anyway!
