The first half of the day was gloomy and wet , I thought I might brighten things up by wearing a rather lovely patchwork dress that I received for my
birthday. It has so many different patterns and colours that I can't imagine how it all works but it does.
The gloomy weather provided the perfect occasion to tackle some more of the boxes currently stored in Monica's room . I've gone through the present box , parted with some that I don't think will suit anyone on my present list and then labelled the others. I then came across some packages of cards from past pupils and holiday diaries . Its hard to know what to do with them. One of my diaries chronicled our 2001 Christmas visit to Sweden. When you read through an old diary you realise how much of the past is forgotten. We saw the Northern lights that year , in Botsle , hanging like green curtains in the sky , I thought we had seen them on a later trip.
We spent some lovely time in the middle of the day chatting with our Swedish family and also had a virtual tour of their new camper van.
We tried not to be too envious of the beautiful blue sky in the background .
Family time was followed by 9000 steps up and down our local hill. The lack of cows in the field meant that we could go all the way to the Wainwright stone from which we can see The lakes , Snowdonia and the Yorkshire peaks , plus Pendle of course .
Now Dave is watching the England versus Ukraine match and I am not !
Wishing you all a happy Saturday evening followed by an equally happy Sunday . I'm off to do some more sorting { whilst sampling a very tasty Gin liquor flavoured with quince and ginger, another birthday gift , lucky me !]
