Back in the House

Will went off to Kingswood in Norfolk very happily this morning (see extra). Carys worked the morning and then we headed to London for a mini break. I had planned to have a break in the sun post the first GCSE's, obviously Covid put pay to that so a couple of nights in London's it is!

Once checked in and luggage dropped we headed over to Bank as I had tickets for the Sky Garden. That was excellent with Carys because she now has enough knowledge of London to work out what was where and appreciate the curve of the river. She spotted huge billowing smoke and identified that it was at Elephant and Castle. We later discovered there was a massive fire under the arches at Elephant and Castle station.

Late lunch on the hoof and back to the hotel to change and head out for tea in Covent Garden or so Carys thought. She didn't know I had tickets for ROH and the Sleeping Beauty mixed programme. So after tea I suggested we have a wander round and people watch. Her face when O told her to put her mask on as we were going in! Happy girl! Very mixed mixed programme. Some classical and some contemporary. Happy to be back again.

Lovely walk back to the hotel along Southbank too.
