Ding, Dong, Dead
When I was house shopping, I fell in love with what is now my home. I was especially taken by the view. I didn’t “kick the tires.” I didn’t look for flaws. For instance, I never noticed the crummy baseboard, the uneven floors or that the doorbell didn’t work.
I couldn’t do anything to change the first two things but I needed a doorbell so I bought a remote one. The idea was to stick the button near the door. Turned out it wasn’t fond of the heat so it had to be super glued in place. The base was plugged into an outlet in the living area. Great plan until my hearing got progressively worse.
The other day I didn’t hear it when someone I was expecting showed up. Because I didn’t answer the door, he left. This wasn’t the first time, either.
This time was the LAST STRAW! I got a hammer and beat the bananas out of the thing until this was all that remained. So cathartic!
Now, when I am expecting someone I leave a note which says, “I am home. Pound on the door.” That seems to be very effective.

Any feedback on the mono Monday themes? I am always interested in hearing from folks because it helps me plan for the next time, whenever that may be.
