took the train

Thank you for hosting DavidC

I decided to take the subway today.
I decided to take the subway to get over my fear of taking the subway.
I am fully vaccinated and the vaccine is very effective, even against the variant.
I thought it would be good to get it over with before the subways are crowded again.
People are required to wear a mask inside the subway (and most do).
Karen is vaccinated, although with J&J, which gives me concern because it isn't so clear to me how effective J&J is against Delta. The latest is J&J saying that based on eight people they think they are very effective. Er
My mother-in-law, who is a scientist, and brilliant, and has been staying up to date on the latest research, said it would be ok, that I would not bring Covid home.

So I took the subway today.
I haven't taken the subway since mid-March 2020.
I remembered everything, the subway card, my camera, my phone, everything except the Corona beer can I found a few weeks ago and was planning to pose with outside the subway station when I finally did this because I thought it would be funny. Oh well.

I first went to the place I would be going if we went in to work anymore. I then walked to the White House. And then I thought, while I was here, I would see the fencing and security remaining around the Capitol.

I have gone to two lakes looking for baby ducks and I found them in a city, at the pool in front of the Capitol building. The irony. But at least I saw them!

In the extras I show the only thing I know about street photography - find someplace interesting and wait for someone to get into the shot. I look forward to learning more so that, when I go into the city, I can take advantage of it and start street photography.

Of course, today illustrated that I could do lots of wildlife pictures even when in the city.

On the way back I so missed singing and dancing while driving that I danced in the subway. I'm old enough not to care what strangers think Also I live in an urban area. Alsacienne, aren't you glad we drove into DC?

"do your nut in" is the same as "drive you bananas"
Do you use "bananas" in this way in Britain?
