Mullein

I have three Mullein self seeded by my front door.. to be honest they are not my favourite plants but I let them stay so that I can see this spectacular caterpillar!!  The Mullein moth caterpillar is so spectacular and they devour a 6 ft high plant in full bloom in about a week when working as a team!!  While they munch through the fat leaves they discard the dense fluff and I think the one at the bottom right is the equivalent of a child having eaten a chocolate ice cream... :D

It is grey and windy today so petals are beginning to cascade off the philadelphus... always sad when it goes over. Every time I go out to do any gardening it starts to rain so I have given up..good excuse for a relaxing Sunday!!
