Sunday Adventures
When I woke up this morning it was pouring! I didn’t let that stop me from going to the beach though :-D
As I was driving to my chosen beach (there’s plenty to chose from around here), the rain wasn’t getting much better. It was nearly an hours drive. As I could see the sea, it had stopped raining!
It was very busy at the beach. It’s really popular with surfers and there were plenty of them there! I had to park on the roadside. The car parks were packed! I took some photos and watched some Swifts (I think that’s what they were) flying in and out of their nests in the cliff. It was really cool!
I walked down to the food truck. It’s extremely popular and has won many awards. They use Seaweed in everything, even Rum! Anyways, I had a bacon roll with their seaweed butter and Kelpchup (seaweed ketchup). It was very nice. I didn’t actually walk along the beach. Don’t really know why haha. I decided to go home and maybe go somewhere else afterwards.
On the way home, I popped into Tesco for some strawberries. I felt like I needed something fresh after that bacon roll. They were very nice. As I was driving home, I decide I wanted some ice cream, so I would have to keep driving past my turn off for home and pop into town. Before that, I was a mile away from home when I remembered that I’d gone all of that way to the beach for their delicious seaweed brownie and I didn’t even get one! How stupid of me hahaha it’s not the first time I’ve done something like that. So I’d driven for an hour to get something and didn’t have it and only realised when I was nearly home. D’oh!!
Well I got my ice cream. I got Ben & Jerry’s. The brownie one. I also got some alcohol free Beer. The lady at the checkout said “You’re over 18, aren’t you?” To which I replied “Yes, but it’s alcohol free anyway haha” Nice to think I was almost ID’d even though I’m 10 years (nearly 11) over the required age limit haha
I went home and had some ice cream. I also made a shandy which I’d made with one of the alcohol free beers. I sat out on our decking and listened to some of the audiobook that I’ve been listening to. It looked like rain, so I went inside and sat on the sofa, still listening to the audiobook.
I did think about going somewhere else, but the weather was a lot gloomier in this part of Pembs compared to where I’d traveled to this morning. I looked towards the Preseli mountains, but it definitely looked like it was raining there!
I had a look to see what was on tv instead and found another Christmas movie to put on. I think they might be playing Christmas movies every weekend now, until the channel becomes Christmas 24 in October/November.
For supper, I went and got a takeaway. I sat outside to eat it which was really lovely and I had this drink in my blip. It’s made up of the last of yesterday’s Sambuca, black currant squash and lemonade. It was very nice.
It looked like rain again, so I went inside. I watched Who do you think you are - Sharon Osbourne. It was quite interesting to watch.
My parents finally came home. They’ve been at my sister’s house all day helping her unpack and organise stuff. I didn’t want to go because they left ridiculously early and I would have been really bored haha. I know I could have seen Albie, but I can see him another time. Sounds like I’ll be going up next weekend to help my Mum sort out the garden. Well, at least make a start at sorting it out!
Might find a movie to watch or maybe I’ll go back to watching a series that I’d started watching and then forgot about haha
In my extra blips, you’ll see the beach. It’s called Freshwater West. It’s famous for its surf and for Cafe Môr. In one of the photos, you’ll see the seaweed drying hut.
If you’ve ever watched the Harry Potter movies, you might recognise the beach. It features in the last 2 movies - Deathly Hallows part 1&2. There’s actually a memorial thing for Dobby. In the movies, they buried him in the sand dunes here. There’s a whole shine of pebbles that people have written on and lots of socks. Most people write “Here lies Dobby, a free Elf”. If you’ve seen or read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, you’ll know that Harry tricks Lucius Malfoy into freeing Dobby (Dobby is a Houseelf for the Malfoys) by putting his sock into Tom Riddle’s diary which Lucius hands to Dobby. If an Elf receives and item of clothing from their master, they are now free. So, everyone leaves a sock for Dobby at Fresh West in the dunes where his memorial thing/shine is.
Also in the extra blips, you’ll see a photo of Wildflowers. It’s totally unrelated to my day today, but apparently it’s National Meadows Day. I took that photo the other week when I did the Wildflower Survey in Colby’s Meadow :)
