Fallen tree, rotten from the core

My entry for July 4, which I refer to as Independence-for-Propertied-White-Men Day. The founding fathers of this country committed genocide and destroyed native cultures, enslaved people, profited from the labor of those enslaved people, considered women chattel and denied their wives and daughters the right to vote, and talked about liberty, freedom, and independence. Not my independence day.
