Cow parsley

Sometimes getting the children motivated for a walk can be very difficult, so today I was a little economical with the truth and said it would just be a short one. Murron wanted to bring her new pink birthday binoculars, so Rowan had to bring a pair too, then Murron decided she would not leave without a book with which to identify birds and Sam had to bring a large stick - which I knew could only mean trouble and so it went on. With fairly low expectations as to how this walk might pan out we finally left, dog in tow. Now this could easily have ended in tears and the walk cut short, but we really had a great time! We walked for nearly two hours with few cross words and no major incidents with the stick (sort of!) The only thing that was as predicted - I ended up carrying everything!
