I was at work today and then did the weekly shop before going home to take Jess out for her walk and swim and then make the tea.

While waiting for the tea to cook, I wandered around the garden looking for some suitable flower to photograph. Here is the humble Astrantia, which hides away in a shady part of the border and is quite beautiful when seen close up. I have never really appreciated before the petals' green tips ad delicate pink veins. Other names for Astrantia include masterwort and melancholy gentleman(!).
